Aminoglycosides are broad‐spectrum antibiotics use against serious bacterial infections. The main mechanism of resistance against these drugs consist of aminoglycoside‐modifying enzymes, which chemically modify the antibiotic scaffold for deactivation. In this presentation, the mechanism of a novel aminoglycoside‐resistance enzyme will be revealed and application of these enzymes as tools for chemical biology will be discussed.
