Breakfast has been promoted to be the first step to healthy dietary behaviors, however breakfast skipping rate has been very much high among young adults in Korea. This study aimed to examine factors influencing breakfast consumption among young office workers in Korea. A pre‐tested questionnaires were self‐administered by 260 young (20 ~ 39 year‐old) office workers. Only 23.8% answered having breakfast regularly every day, while 23.1% reported not having breakfast at all. No differences by sex were found. Contrary to common beliefs, most young office workers preferred and ate Korean traditional style breakfast. Almost half of the respondents ate their breakfast at home regularly, and when they ate non‐Korean style breakfast outside home with low satisfactory level. When they ate breakfast outside home Most respondents pointed not having enough time in the morning as a reason for skipping breakfast. Breakfast consumers tended to believe that having breakfast were important to maintain good nutritional status and health (p<0.05). It seemed the most important factor to breakfast consumption was having someone to prepare the meal for them. This information would be useful to public health nutritionists promoting regular dietary patterns.
