On the 29th of September in 1935, human remains were discovered in the small Scotland town of Moffat. Thus began a case that has impacted the study of forensic science ever since. The use of anatomy and human dissection skills were instrumental in solving this crime. The reassembly of the bodies and the presentation in court of the anatomical findings provide a fascinating and historic look of the early criminalistic use of anatomy, forensic science and physical anthropology. This presentation will contain images from the 1937 book by John Glaister and James Brash, Medico Legal Aspects of the Ruxton Case, as well as other findings. This presentation will offer the listener a greater understanding of the historical heritage of anatomy in forensic science.
