Your pre‐ and postdoctoral training define you as a biomedical scientist and set the course for your career. NIH grant support is an important element in this process. This presentation will explain what NIH grants are available to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and those individuals transitioning to independent careers as scientists. The expectations and review of applicants and applications at each stage of training will be discussed. In addition, historical data will be presented on career outcomes of individuals supported by these awards, as well as the number of awards typically made, and the success rates of applicants.
