In order to investigate Korean high school students’ recognition and use of nutrients‐enriched foods, this cross‐sectional survey was conducted using a questionnaire. The subjects of this study were 397 male students in three different high schools in Incheon metropolitan city, Korea. Data were analyzed with SPSS 14.0 program. As for use of nutrients‐enriched foods, 69.0% of the subjects ate various nutrients‐enriched foods. The nutrients‐enriched food most eaten by the subjects was confectionery, ramen, milk/soybean milk, yoghurt/cheese and beverages in order. Only 7.6% of the subject use nutrients‐enriched foods after confirming that they were enriched with nutrients. The subjects acquired the most information on nutrients‐enriched foods from newspapers, magazines, TV and internet. As for reason for using nutrients‐enriched foods, most of the subjects answered that they were good for health. As for reason for using none of nutrients‐enriched foods, most of the subjects answered that they were not effective. Calcium and vitamin C were most favorite enriched nutrients and most of the subjects intended to use nutrients‐enriched foods. Therefore, nutrition education for use of nutrients‐enriched foods should be provided at school and specific regulations and law of nutrients‐enriched foods should be prepared to ensure the effective intake of nutrients‐enriched foods in Korea.
