In our anatomy laboratory course for nursing majors, students use cadavers previously dissected in other courses. Faculty are the primary resource to locate and identify structures in the laboratory. To facilitate locating structures more independently, video lab guides were produced and tested for two exercises. Some structures were omitted from the videos and formally presented by faculty in the traditional manner. To assess efficacy of the videos, correct response rates to quiz questions were compared for two structures on the video, and two structures only presented by faculty. Similar percentages of students (n=136) correctly answered questions based on the videos as those presented by course faculty (62.1% vs. 64.3%; p=0.87). Student feedback about the videos was favorable, including requests they be made available on the course website for studying outside of the laboratory. Based on this preliminary analysis, video lab guides were at least as effective as faculty presentation of material for an undergraduate cadaver lab. As videos were no less effective that in‐person delivery of content, more videos are planned with refinements to further improve their efficacy.
