This study tested the hypothesis that angiotensin II blockade attenuates metabolic and cardiovascular disorders in rats with diet‐induced obesity. Wistar‐Kyoto rats were subjected to control and hypercaloric diets for 30 weeks. After this period, rats were assigned to four groups: CD, Los‐CD; HD, and Los‐HD. Los‐groups received Losartan (30mg/kg/day) during five weeks. Glucose tolerance test was performed and area under glycemic curve (AUGC) was calculated. In left ventricle, extracellular signal‐regulated (ERK1/2) and c‐Jun amino‐terminal kinases (JNK) protein levels were analyzed by Western Blot. Insulin concentration and angiotensin‐converting enzyme activity (ACE) were assessed in serum. Results are presented in the table. Conclusion Losartan attenuates obesity‐induced metabolic and cardiovascular changes. Support: FAPESP
