The Effects & Satisfactory Degree of Nutritional Education Program for the Obese Elementary Students

The purpose of this study was to find basic materials of the obese management by nutritional education program. This study measured general characteristics and nutritional knowledge, dietary habits, lifestyles and the satisfactory degree of the program. The subjects was 41 numbers, and 11.09 years. Before program begin, the average weight, BMI, % body fat, the degree of obese, waist‐hip ratio of the subjects were 68.24kg, 29.27, 41.69%, 148.56%, and 0.94 respectively. However after program, each items decreased to 66.74kg, 28.71, 39.59%(p<0.05), 144.15%, and 0.93(p<0.02). Also there was significant change in nutritional knowledge test(p<0.000). In the questions of temptation of delicious food intakes(p<0.010), endurance of food intakes during leisure time(p<0.009), exercise during leisure time(p<0.000), and regular exercise habits(p<0.002) shown difference significantly. Also confidence of achievement of self‐plan(p<0.004) and maintenance of adequate weight(p<0.005) shown difference significantly. The persuation rate of this program of subjects to others is 92.7%(p<0.000). Thus, nutritional education program for obese control are urgently needed to prevent degenerative disease and decrease obesity among students in elementary school.
