Traditional didactic lectures is the predominant Physiology lecture format in Nigerian Medical schools despite biomedical knowledge expansion and many evidence‐based innovative changes in medical education and curriculum. We reviewed Medical students' perception of this and other their exposed learning environments and discovered declining interest in didactic lectures and practical sessions, with preferences for peer‐tutored discussion classes. Results also show that student‐centred learning environments are not available and learning is further constrained by funding gaps, poor infrastructure and increasing class sizes We introduced Small group tutorials and more interactive practical classes and can demonstrate initial increased interest by students but serious challenges exist and are presented in this paper for contributions and guidance
