The physical changes children undergo as they progress through puberty are remarkable changes indeed. Previously, almost androgynous in appearance, boys and girls develop gender‐specific changes that are clearly distinguishable. Their secondary sexual characteristics progress in a step wise fashion, characterized historically through Tanner Staging. The goal of this session is to describe the pubertal developmental changes in both males and females, highlighting the key areas of anatomical development a training health care provider would need to be familiar with in order to diagnose normal and abnormal development.
