Keratin 10 (K10) is one of the major keratins involved in keratinoncytes differentiation and keratinization. In the present study, we examined the expression of K10 in the novel thread‐like structures (NTS) composed of Bonghan ducts and corpuscles located on the surface of the rat abdominal organs. The K10 mRNA and protein was identified by RT‐PCR and Western blot analysis. The K10 immunoreactivities were detected in a follicle‐like structure that covers several cells inside the NTS. Taken together, NTS expresses K10, in particular, in its internal structure. This is the first report demonstrating the expression of K10 in the NTS and may help to understand the structure and function of the NTS.
