It has been reported that there could be a possibility of side effects on neutropenia while chemotherapy is applied to treat prostate or breast cancer; however, these side effects could be reduced or even eliminated via combining with herbal medications. In this study, we had how made neutropenia induced model. First, we have injected cyclophosphamide(150mg/kg, every 2 days) into a targeted mice to drive neutropenia. Next, to two different group, we have injected G‐CSF(0.1mg/kg, every 2 days) to the one side and herbal medicine to another. After the treatment, we have measured the quantity of neutrophils from its blood cells; moreover, we have then measured level of cytokines secreted from bone marrow cells and spleenocytes. From the acquired information, we observed that the levels of both cytokines and neutrophils are recovered from both groups, G‐CSF and herbal medicated. It is shown that herbal medicine could possibly used as a substitute of G‐CSF as a treatment for neutropenia. As a consequence, herbal medications could benefit chemotherapy.
