The objective of this study was to test the effect of Rubus Coreanus extract on erectile dysfunction. This was a 12 week, randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled pilot study. 20 subjects with ED (IIEF≤ 21) were erectile failure in sexual intercourse above four for screening period. A total of 20 subjects were randomly divided to a Rubus Coreanus extract group (n=10, 200ml/day) or placebo group (n=10, 200ml/day). Efficacy assessments included the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) and safety. IIEF questionnaire was conducted 4 times (in study weeks 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4). Finally 19 subjects were finished in this study. Rubus Coreanus extract group had significantly increased score from baseline to the end of treatment on three domain of the IIEF (erectile function p =0.04, orgasm function p =0.02, total IIEF score p =0.038). There was no change of IIEF score (intercourse satisfaction p =0.093, sexual desire p =0.069, overall satisfaction p =0.503) compared with before and after treatment. Also there was no significant difference between Rubus Coreanus extract and placebo group. These results suggested that Rubus Coreanus extract had in favorable effect on erectile dysfunction.
