Asthma is caused by a complex interaction of environmental and genetic factors that they do not yet fully understand. It has side effects and a complication by long‐term drugs taking medicine because it is chronic disease. Therefore many Researchers expect anti‐asthmatic effect in plant that side effect does not exist. To investigate anti‐asthmatic effect of water extract from Perillae semen (PSW) , we measure β‐Hexosaminidase secretion and Th2 cytokine(such as IL‐4, IL‐13,TNF‐α) production on IgE stimulated RBL‐2H3 cell. Our results have shown that Perillae semen extract is significantly decreased the release of β‐Hexosaminidase and IL‐4, IL‐13 mRNA by DNP‐IgE stimulated RBL‐2H3 cells. Also TNF‐ α production was inhibited as concentration increase compared with control, in cells exposed to PSW. Thus, the perillae semen water extracts may be effective as asthma material.( This work is Supported for Corporate‐affiliated Research Institute of Academic‐Industrial‐Institutional Cooperation Establishment Business.)
