Spaceflight and head‐down bed rest (HDBR) induce cardiovascular deconditioning, which includes modified leg venous hemodynamics. In this study, the leg venous vascular characteristics were measured in 7 controls and 7 subjects with Chinese herb and vibration combined with resistance exercise respectively by strain gauge venous occlusion plethysmography before, at day 38 and 52 of HDBR. After 38d bed rest, leg vein compliance significantly decreased combined with increased venous resistance in three groups. However, compared with control and exercise groups, these changes were smaller in Chinese herb group. After 52d HDBR, the leg vein compliance and vein resistance in Chinese herb and control group had an ongoing decrease and increase, respectively. However, in exercise group, such changes maintained at the level of 38d HDBR. These results suggested that Chinese herb and exercise countermeasure had a better effects on the modified leg venous vascular characteristics induced by 38d and 52d HDBR, respectively.
