Breast lymph drainage is complex. In case of breast cancer, the primary tumour drains into the first regional lymph node, the so called sentinel lymph node (SLN), which captures disseminated tumoral cells. In case of breast cancer, SLN biopsy evaluates node status, axillary stage of the disease. The study lot consisted of 45 female patients with malignant, palpable, mammary tumour. All patients underwent lymphoscintigraphic evaluation: planar study after intradermal and peritumoral injection of 15–30 MBq 99mTc–Nanocoll. In 43 cases (95.55%) we found the SLN; in 2 cases (4.45%), scintigraphic examination revealed no SLN. For the 43 cases, SLN location was as follows: axillary lymph nodes (74.42%), parasternal lymph nodes (4.65%), axillary and parasternal lymph nodes (18.60%), and subclavicular lymph nodes (2.33%). Most frequent location of SLN is at axillary level. In 6.98% cases, SLN is at a distance from the axillary fossa. (Supported by CNMP 41058/2007).
