As part of the workshop on tips for grant writing, this presentation will focus on “what to put in and where.” Discussion will be centered on how to organize a grant proposal, what sections can/should be included, and what type of information is essential to each section of the proposal. What do reviewers need to know to be convinced that the science you propose is worth doing, can be done by you and your lab group, and will be supported by your institution? In addition, things that may annoy reviewers, and should be avoided, will be discussed. The presenter is from a primarily undergraduate institution and has experience both as a reviewer as well as a recipient of NSF (CAREER and MRI), ACS‐PRF (B), NIH (AREA), Merck‐AAAS (Summer Undergraduate Science Research Program), and HHMI (Undergraduate Science Education Program) grants.
