The aim of the project is to advance the Anatatorium's global utilization of digital imaging collected through various modalities such as computed tomography or magnetic resonance to reconstruct three‐dimensional digital models used for educational purposes. Contents currently developed in the Anatatorium typically require large, cutting‐edge facilities with highly specific technical configurations which are currently unavailable to most existing higher education institutions. In order to expand the effectiveness of this new education medium, a more efficient distribution method is required to provide better portability and accessibility to the educational contents both inside and outside of the traditional learning environment. This research will explore the possibility of distributing developed digital contents through online virtual reality realm such as Second Life. It is expected this milieu will allow greater educational access and interactivity for learners and educators outside the traditional learning roles. Our research will also illustrate the general procedures for establishing virtual online learning environments and potential merits and/or obstacles that will be associated with such endeavours.
