Studying comparative vertebrate anatomy gives us insights to the design of these animals. Vertebrates exhibit anatomical adaptations to their various and unique environments. An appreciation of human design and function is gained when we compare ourselves to examples of other vertebrates that are considered specialists in the animal kingdom.
