My laboratory studies the mechanisms and regulation of pre‐mRNA splicing and polyadenylation in vertebrate organisms, with emphasis on understanding how these processes are connected to the transcription of mRNA precursors by RNA polymerase II and to other nuclear events. We use a variety of different methods, including biochemical, genetic and structural, to investigate these pathways and the protein factors involved, and to analyze the consequences on cell growth, development and viability when these processes are disrupted. I will present results from our most recent analyses of these problems.
