To evaluate the dietary pattern by Desirable Dietary Pattern (DDP) score in urban and rural population in Guangxi. We used data collected in 1992 and 1997 from China National Nutrition Survey and China Health and Nutrition Survey. Our results showed that DDP score in both urban and rural population are over 70 in 1992 and 1999 year in Guangxi. The lowest DDP score in rural population is 79.6 in 1992, which indicated that the dietary patterns are basically reasonable. The DDP score increased over 10 points in rural population from 1992 to 1997, shown the dietary pattern in rural population is improved, and the DDP score remain unchanged in urban population with five years. The DDP score of energy from animal food in urban population is high, and the similar tendency exists in rural population. The DDP score of energy from oil also reach maximum permitted score, needed to be control. Along with the decrease of intake of energy from cereals and increase of energy from animal food, the DDP scoring of Asia Pacific is more reasonable than Chinese.
