The objective of the study was to investigate the nutritional knowledge, attitudes and activities of medical team in relation to nutritional care for hospitalized patients. The questionnaires were distributed to medical doctors (MDs: 75), Oriental medical doctors (OMDs: 46) and nurses (283) working at hospital in Korea. The 14‐days of medical charts were reviewed (Western medical charts: 192sets, Oriental medical chart: 118sets). Nutritional statuses of the patients at admission and discharge were evaluated. The response rates of nurses, MDs and OMDs were 83.0%, 43.1% and 63.0%, respectively. Although many respondents (nurses: 69.4%, MDs: 71.9%, OMDs: 24.1%) recognized that nutritional assessment of the patients could be an important part of treatments, the implementation in practice were very poor. Nutritional care of patients was not related with knowledge, attitudes and activities of medical team. Further research would be needed to identify and improve various barriers that influence the practice of nutritional care for patients.
