The enzyme ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) catalyzes the reduction of the four ribonucleotides to their corresponding deoxyribonucleotides. We have cloned, purified, the two subunits R1 and R2 of Bacillus cereus RNR and characterized the R2 protein by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. Enzyme kinetics and binding studies for the Ribonucleotide Reductase system will also be presented.
