Three medicinal plants which are Aframomum melegueta, Ricinus communis and Helianthus annuus are botanicals used in traditional medicine and they are known to possess insecticidal properties. This study aimed to determine the toxic effect these plant materials leave powders on kidney and liver function which was evaluated through histological examination of tissues from both organs from rats fed with the formulated diets . Forty two (42) male Wistar rats were randomly divided into seven groups (six each) and were fed daily with 1 and 10% of the three plant materials included in their diet for 30 days while the control group fed with basal diet without supplementation. At the end of 30 days, the rats were sacrificed to remove the kidney and liver for toxicity evaluation.
