The methods used to teach the musculoskeletal system are as varied at the curriculum offered to students studying for careers in the health sciences. In some curricula it may be taught in the context of a regional anatomy course while in others a more systemic approach is used. Is one more effective than the other? How often is the material on musculoskeletal biology presented within the context in which it will be used during clinical practice? In this talk the results of a survey of anatomy course directors will be presented and discussed. In addition some of the more innovative and effective ways of teaching the musculoskeletal system revealed by the survey will be highlighted.
