One of the challenges in teaching musculoskeletal anatomy is guiding students to an understanding of functional anatomy that is beyond memorizing the origins and insertions of muscles. Students are often more receptive to learning the details of musculoskeletal anatomy if those details are included as part of a practical or applied situation. This presentation will consist of examples of selected patient scenarios that encourage student problem‐solving and rely upon an understanding of anatomy for their solution. The case studies presented will reflect varying levels of complexity and will be coordinated with the session's presention on assessment of the musculoskeletal system. A discussion of methods by which similar patient problems might be constructed will be included.
