Dr. Siderovski has been a pioneer in the discovery of novel modulators of the heterotrimeric G‐protein signaling pathway, including the 'regulators of G‐protein signaling’ (RGS) proteins which serve as GTPase‐accelerating proteins (GAPs) for G‐protein alpha subunits and, more recently, the GoLoco motif proteins which serve as GDP dissociation inhibitors (GDIs). In this talk, Dr. Siderovski will discuss new findings regarding these G‐alpha subunit regulators, their new‐found roles in GDP/GTP cycling required for mitotic spindle function during mitosis, and the structural biology of phage‐display peptides that interact with G‐alpha subunits in nucleotide‐selective manners.
