TY‐1010 is one of the most well‐known traditional herbal medicines that are frequently used for the treatment of obesity in Korea. The anti‐obesity effect of TY‐1010 on obese patients (n=11) was investigated through analyses of changes in body weight, fat weight, BMI, percent fat, and Waist‐Hip ratio before and after 3 months of TY‐1010 treatment. The study shows that TY‐1010 significantly decreased body weight, fat weight, BMI, percent fat, and Waist‐Hip ratio in obese patients (p < 0.05, n=11). However, the levels of GOT, GPT, glucose, total cholesterol and triglycerides, indexes of obesity in patients were in normal levels before and after 3 months of TY‐1010 treatment except very obese people ((p > 0.05, n=9). Those levels in them were significantly decreased before and after 3 months of TY‐1010 treatment (p < 0.05, n=2). It was concluded from the results that TY‐1010 has a distinct anti‐obesity effect and may help people recover from obesity or obesity‐related diseases in clinic.
