There have been several significant advances in mobile computers, or PDAs over the last decade. These advances have now allowed medical educators to control “walking libraries”, or digital books on a mobile platform, available at all times. The addition of increasing screen resolution now allows for excellent graphics, in addition to text, allowing for all the contents of several books to be on a mobile platform. There are a few important differences between PDA platforms, from Palm, Windows CE, and Symbian, but all devices allow for similar text entry and retrieval of information, which can be invaluable in an educational institution. The ability to have hundreds of radiologic images on such a device has greatly impacted visual educational fields, such as radiology.
