Methods Hispanic subjects (n=34) participated in a 3 month randomized trial. Fan beam DXA Hologic 4500 A software V8.26a:3 was used to analyze body composition. Paired T‐test was used to assess the difference between baseline and 3 months. Results In both genders, there was a decrease in %HbA1c (7.87 ± 0.2 vs. 7.08 ± 1.6, P=0.000), fasting blood sugar (FBS) mg/dL (166 ± 65.9 vs. 143.21 ± 57.8, P=0.003), Leptin μg/mL (19.55 ± 14.9 vs. 16.34 ± 12.6, P=0.002), kg body weight (81.22 ± 17.90 vs. 80.31 ± 17.95, P=0.015), kg total body fat (30.41 ± 10.68 vs. 29.50 ± 10.52, P=0.000), total %fat (36.37 ± 7.4 vs. 35.77 ±7.5, P=0.003), kg trunk fat (16.54 ± 5.73 vs. 15.93 ± 5.60, P=0.001), trunk %fat (37.57 ± 7.1 vs. 36.78 ± 7.1, P=0.003). In males (n=10), there was decrease in HbA1c (7.31 ± 1.9 vs. 6.2 ± 0.75, P=0.030), BMI (31.90 ± 6.7 vs. 31.25 ± 5.9, P=0.037), total body fat (26.82 ± 9.29 vs. 25.70 ± 8.64, P=0.009), total %fat (29.21 ± 4.8 vs. 28.37 ± 4.4, P=0.022), trunk fat (16.02 ± 5.89 vs.15.11 ± 5.22, P=0.037), and trunk %fat (32.64 ± 5.7 vs. 31.5 ± 5.1, P=0.046). In females (n=24), there was a decrease in HbA1c (8.0 ± 2.0 vs. 7.39 ± 1.8, P=0.002), FBS (175 ± 71.4 vs. 148.36 ± 64.3, P=0.009), Leptin (23.73 ± 15.3 vs. 19.58 ± 13.1, P=0.002), body weight (78.55 ± 17.77 vs.77.59 ± 18.18, P=0.046), total fat (31.70 ± 11.02 vs. 30.87 ± 10.95, P=0.010), total %fat (38.94 ± 6.5 vs 38.43 ± 6.5, P=0.035), trunk fat (16.73 ± 5.78 vs. 16.22 ± 5.80, P=0.011), trunk %fat (39.35 ± 6.9 vs. 38.68 ± 6.8, P=0.034). C: The program improved HbA1c, FBS, Leptin levels, and body composition in all subjects.
