With the introduction of the first reliable chemical activator of broad disease resistance for several crops, an additional tool is available for the design of more sustainable disease control strategies (6). The goal remains to integrate all available genetic, cultural, biological, and chemical methods for disease control in a way to optimize their benefits and minimize their risks for producers, consumers, and the environment.
