Urf a is located between the genes encoding subunits 6 and 8 and strain 50 as reference (B.F.Lang, pers. comm.). Strain EF1 of ATPase (qtp6, atp8) and flanked by the genes for tRNA^" and versus 50 shows four amino acid changes (GAA —GAT:E—D; tRNA'' {tmq, tmi). This urf seems unique for S. pombe. Here CTT-CCT:L—P; ATT-GTT:I -V; ATA—GTA:I—V) and we present the urf a sequence of 2 5. pombe strains (EF1, EF3) strain EF3 versus 50 only a silent mutation (TTC —TIT).
