The genetics of the ciliated protozoa Tetrahymena thermophila and certain species of Paramecium (P. primaurelia and P. tetraurelia) have reached a level of maturity such that rules for genetic nomenclature for micronuclear and macronuclear genetics need to be clarified for workers in the field as well as for other geneticists.
