Glucocorticoid, thyroid, progesterone and androgen hormones are shown to reliably reflect biological activity of adrenal, thyroid and gonadal activation in captive tigers. Combined ACTH and TSH challenges further suggest how adrenal and thyroid hormone secretion complement one another to coordinate the physiological response to nutritional stress.
