The Malagasy sportive lemur Lepilemur edwardsi shows a surprising response to the lean dry season. Instead of keeping energy expenditure generally low, it shows an increase while resting. As it loses weight, compensation does not seem to be fully balanced, which is concerning as longer dry periods are predicted with climate change.
