Multiple Bladder Calculi in an Incarcerated Genitourinary Prolapse

Background: Genitourinary prolapse is a common entity in women rarely needing emergency intervention. However, in the rare event of multiple vesicle calculi causing acute incarceration and obstructive uropathy surgical intervention should not be delayed. Case Presentation: We herein present case of a 65-year-old woman who presented with irreducible urogenital prolapse and eventually found to have multiple vesicle calculi with bilateral hydro-ureteronephrosis. The patient underwent an initial suprapubic cystolithotomy with subsequent hysterectomy and prolapse repair. Conclusion: Multiple vesicle calculi may be a cause for an irreducible genitourinary prolapse. For all cases of long-standing prolapse, an imaging in the form of radiographs, ultrasonography, or CT scan should be done to assess the entire urinary tract for other stones, obstruction, and dilatation. A multidisciplinary approach consisting of complete stone removal as well as repair of the prolapsed pelvic organs through a combined abdominal and vaginal route may be necessary to achieve an effective outcome.
