Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the conference was organized virtually by using a combination of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Google Meet. The ICCEIB2020 witnessed the co-hosting of the conference with City University of Hong Kong (China), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), and also Dalian University of Technology (China). The theme for the ICCEIB2020 is Empowering Sustainable Technological Solutions for Industry and Society, a topic that is fast gaining traction in both academic and industry worlds due to interconnectivity between sustainability and societal issues such as food, energy, and clean water. The ICCEIB2020 attracted more than 500 high-quality extended abstract submissions from Malaysia, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions. Four world-renowned experts, Professor Dr. Dan. C. W. Tsang (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong), Professor. Ir. Dr. Sharifah Rafidah Binti Wan Alwi (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia), Assoc. Professor Pierre Le Clech (University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia), and Dr. Dai-Viet N. Vo (Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Vietnam), were delivered their keynote talks. Additionally, one speaker from the petrochemical industry, Mr. Kiran Parihar (BASF PETRONAS Chemicals Sdn. Bhd.) has shared a talk related to sustainability through technical process optimization. To celebrate the success of the ICCEIB2020, this volume compiled 160 proceedings in the areas of Food and Biotechnology, Energy and Catalysis, Water and Environmental Engineering, Advanced in Chemical Engineering, and Process Control and Simulation.
