This paper describes the work carried out on C45 steel subjected to boring operation and development of an optimum set of parameters to be adopted for boring process to get better surface finish and increase the material removal rate (MRR). The design of experiments (DOE) technique is used to carry out the experiments and the results are analysed using the statistical tool. From the analysis, it is observed that the spindle speed and rake angle has a significant effect on the surface roughness, whereas the variations in the rake angle did not have any effect on the MRR.
