Investigations of the structure, chemical, mineralogical and phase composition of corrosion products of cast-iron sections of the EcoSøderberg cell collecting bell were carried out. Structural features of the scale were established using electron microscopy. The mechanism of corrosion products formation in the form of loose scale was proposed and scientifically substantiated.
