A technique has been developed for calculating the solidification time of castings and ingots in metal form, taking into account not only the thermophysical properties of the casting materials and molds, but also the heat transfer conditions at the “casting – mold” interface, the dissipation of the heat flux from the crystallization front to the heating of the chill mold and into the environment.
