The paper aims to reason the need to create a system of local air monitoring system which functions in interaction with monitoring systems located on the orbital space platforms. A comparative analysis of drones and aircraft of the ultra-light class as platforms for carrying out on-board aerial survey equipment has been performed. The configuration and functioning principles of an interactive on-board local monitoring system protected by patents of the Russian Federation are discussed. The advantages of the local air monitoring system designed for the implementation of environmental protection projects in the oil and gas infrastructure are analyzed. The scope and the list of functional tasks to be solved in the interests of the oil and gas industry of the Russian Federation are determined.
