The heterophase LaB 6 -W 2 B 5 composite with LaB 6 content of 50 vol. % was fabricated by reactive hot pressing of the powder mixture of LaB 6 , W and amorphous boron at 1800 °C and 30 MPa for 15 min. The structure and phase composition of the synthesis products were analyzed by SEM, EDX and XRD methods. The effect of the pressure-induced anisotropic W 2 B 5 grains growth was observed. The elastic modulus of composites investigated by resonance frequency method, and the Vickers hardness via indentation method.
