In today’s modern society, we are facing the greatest environmental challenge, wastes management. With the growth of mobile application development, opportunities in enhancing the community’s waste recycling practices have become easier. The study focuses on designing a mobile application as an IT intervention in helping to re-shape individuals in waste recycling habits. The purpose of this paper is to support everyone in strengthening their waste recycling practices within the community. This study focusses on designing a mobile application by integrating the hybrid architectural framework. Also, the researcher used a codesign methodology to define the content features, system requirements and to identify the user of the system. This framework and design consideration are recommended for utilization and implementation to aid every member of the community in their waste management practices through innovative solutions. The result of the study could raise awareness of how emerging technology be a solution to climate change. It attests that there is a great opportunity in improving the recycling habits of every individual through IT innovation, which different stakeholders could take advantage of. Somehow, this study helps individuals to recognize the importance of mobile technology to contribute to the solution to global concerns associated with climate change.
