The trace medicine metabolites in some hospital wastewater during treatment process were determined and charactered by gas chromatography - mass spectrometry. Analysis results identified the present of various polycyclic and heterocyclic refractory compounds in the hospital wastewater. This study indicated the medicine metabolites could not be effectively removed by the traditional treatment process, and it was irradiative for the technology improvement in the wastewater treatment plants receiving hospital effluents.
