In this paper, WSe 2 nanosheets were prepared and demonstrated to have non-linear absorption characteristics that were saturated at about 2 μm. A passively Q-swithched (PQS) Tm:YAP laser was perfectly implemented with the Wse 2 nanosheets as a saturable absorber (SA). In PQS mode, an average output power of 1.01 W with a pulse duration of 1.7 μs at 166.7 kHz was achieved with a pump power of 12.1 W, corresponding to an optical-optical conversion efficiency of 8.3%. A peak power of 3.88 W was acquired from a PQS Tm: YAP laser.
