In this paper, a method of assessing the level of road traffic risk sources is proposed. First, based on the key elements involved in road traffic safety, all risk sources are divided into two groups, namely the infrastructure-related risk source and the equipment-related risk source. Then, the risk source is further divided into four grades according to the damage that they could cause. Lastly, a LEC method is introduced to evaluate the influence of risk sources quantitatively.
