Preface

The VIII th International Conference for Young Scientists "High Technology: Research and Applications” (HTRA-2019) was held at Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tomsk, Russia on September 30 - October 5, 2019. The conference “HTRA” is held at TPU annually, starting from 2012, and brings together young scientists, graduate students and experienced scientists from Russia and other countries (Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, China, Thailand, Syria). HTRA-2019 is aimed at developing cooperation between Russian and foreign young scientists and students to conduct joint research of engineering science and high technology application. The conference focuses on modern technology and advances in science and technology based on an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving. The main topics of the conference were as follows: 1. Chemical technology and biotechnology; 2. Rational use of natural and technology-related mineral raw materials and water resources; 3. Photonic technologies and photo engineering; 4. Reliability of mechanical engineering and mechanic technologies; 5. Advanced materials and technologies in the space industry.
