The article concerns the thermal analysis of an electric motor for mounting in a wheel hub of an electric car. The CFD model was calibrated on the basis of the results of laboratory tests of the prototype electric motor. The analysis was aimed at recognizing the possibility of increasing the load capacity of an electric motor through the use of dielectric materials with higher thermal conductivity than those used in the actual prototype. The authors presented the problem of heat removal from motors in wheel hubs, construction of the electric motor, the calculation model and analysis of calculation results.
