Undoubtedly, that freshwater and energy are the two most important factors, which are responsible for the development of socio-economic in any region. According to the many studies, there are many places where the accessibility of potable water are limited, and to meet this demand for freshwater, the use of desalination plants is an important solution. On the other hand, there is a need of energy, either in the form of electricity or heat for operations of desalination plants and we all aware of the availability of conventional energy source, which is limited. Therefore, the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) will be an effective solution in the future to the energy problem and water management for driving the desalination plants. This paper aim has to study and propose appropriate Sustainable energy sources for all kind of desalination system, i.e., thermal or membrane system and the kind of energy used for driving the desalination system.
