The experimental results of the influence of electrolyte composition and electrodepositing regimes on the properties of galvanic gradient indium-containing composite coatings based on chromium are presented. The dependences of micro hardness, coefficient of friction and wear resistance of coatings on electrodepositing regimes and electrolyte composition were studied. The effect of coating thickness on properties of gradient coatings was investigated. It is shown that the gradient alloy chromium – indium – molybdenum – vanadium – boron nitride (elbor), obtained by electrolytic deposition, has a high wear resistance and is far superior to the wear resistance of the coating obtained from standard chromium sulphate electrolyte.
